精密钣金制造——简介

What is sheet metal fabrication?

Sheet metal fabrication is the general description of manufacturing and processing sheet metal with laser cutting, turret punching, bending and press brake, manual or robotic welding, spray painting or powder coating and screwing and assembly of several sheets of metal. Sheet metal fabrication is used for various products including small brackets, enclosures and chassis to large form-factor products like cabinets and metal boxes.

What are the type of materials used in sheet metal fabrication?

A wide range of material is used in metal fabrication including the following:

  • Aluminum (A5052, A1100 etc)
  • Stainless steel (SUS 301, SUS 304, SUS 316L etc)
  • Bronze (C5210, C5191 etc)
  • Mild steel
  • EG
  • Copper (C1100)

Sizes and tolerances of sheet metal fabrication

A typical sheet metal fabricator can process sheet metal of as thin as 0.3mm, up to 22.0mm for mild steel and 16mm for stainless steel. Typically table size can be as small as 200mm to 3000mm. Sheet metal fabricators with 5-axis machines can typically process materials and sizes of up to 3 meters.

Laser cutting have typical tolerances of +/- 0.1mm, fold to hole of 0.15mm, bend angle of +/- 1 degrees and burr of maximum 10% of thickness.
